Run For Hope 2021 is a non-profit virtual run event organized by students under the Japanese Club and Japanese Culture Club from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. It is held in order to help those victims suffer from the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of health and financial. Many low-income families face financial problems during this COVID-19 pandemic due to the recession of the economy. As a part of communities, the Run For Hope 2021 committees wish to use this opportunity to lend a hand to them. This year, we are collaborating with SESO Malaysia and part of the profit of this event will be donated to them. SESO Malaysia is a non-profit enterprise that combats food waste and food poverty. For example, SESO nourishes communities using surplus food from local supermarkets, grocery stores, restaurants and turns them into nutritious meals to give to those in need. The most vital purpose of SESO is spreading awareness and collaborating on some projects to reduce food waste and food poverty. They also help to build communities, in particular among the people who are suffering from social isolation. They do this through serving communal meals in a warm dignified and welcoming environment.
